Startup Elevator / Corporate Innovation Workshop

3 days of intensive hands-on accelerator for IT startups or innovation teams who would like to take their projects to the next level utilizing StartupMonthly methodology for idea, product, or business acceleration. Teams will work with Silicon Valley mentors to learn the essentials of the Lean Startup methodology through practicing and performing Customer Development, re-defining their Minimal Viable Product, and optimizing their business model for rapid user adoption. The StartupMonthly mentors will supervise the startups along the way and help rework and improve the roadmaps for the teams. 

Who this workshop is for: incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces, corporate R&D offices, innovation hubs 

Objectives for Teams

Get your project / startup off the ground by getting daily one-on-one mentorship by Silicon Valley mentors.  You will perform effective Customer Development, use Lean Startup methodology to build a new Minimal Viable Product (MVP), define a roadmap and go to market strategy, launch new MVP for your customers and pitch to get investment during Investor Demo Day.

You will be supported by mentors from Silicon Valley, serial entrepreneurs, domain experts and executives who will provide you with feedback and guidance on your product and business model. 

Milestones

Each day will be a milestone in your journey to a new Minimal Viable Product. You should be ready to work hard between the sessions in order to deliver actionable results. 

Requirements

  • Teams of 2-5 co-founders (Any size of R&D)
  • Must have a live prototype of a project the team built together
  • Team worked at least 4 months together
  • 50% of team members with technical abilities to build the product
  • Team must work full time on their project during the accelerator period
  • Innovative ideas, solutions, business model, market
  • Consumer web, mobile services and applications, cloud services and infrastructure, and smart TV domains

Agenda

Day 1 - Customer Development and New MVP

  • Learn how to apply Lean Startup Methodology
  • Review the Customer Development strategy
  • Sketch new Minimum Viable Product (MVP) improving User Experience of the product

Day 2 - Product Architecture, Rapid Prototyping, Metrics and Traction

  • Learn about scalable startups and product architecture
  • Learn about rapid prototyping techniques and technologies
  • Iterate on the new Minimal Viable Product
  • Design traction metrics and how to analyze them
  • Incorporate metric collection mechanisms in the solution
  • Review and update the customer acquisition and go to market strategies

Day 3 - Relaunch and Marketing, Pitch Coaching

  • Learn strategies for effectively launching your product 
  • Learn the basics of marketing strategy and viral marketing
  • Learn about user acquisition strategies
  • Lecture: Investors pitch presentation best practices
  • Improve the executive summary structure
  • Activity: Pitch coaching and peer practice

Day 4 (optional) - Demo Day

  • Teams present their products and results to invited investors. 

Each Day's Agenda

Each day will start with a lecture and active discussion to reinforce learned material. Hands on activities and tasks are then presented for the rest of the day due for review the next morning. While the teams execute these activities, mentors will hold one-on-one sessions to review progress and provide feedback on the business model and the product.
